2023年4月26日、27日に東京・京王プラザで開催される「4th Skin Microbiome & Cosmeceuticals Congress: Asia」にて、「ラ・フローラ K-1」など弊社肌フローラ研究について発表を行います。

The benefit of promoting the growth of coagulase-negative staphylococci in facial skin
（顔面皮膚におけるコアグラーゼ陰性ブドウ球菌の増殖を促進する効果について）
【発表要旨】
Skin flora contains many kinds of bacteria, including Staphylococcus epidermidis as known as a beneficial skin bacteria. S. epidermidis secretes lipases that produce glycerol and fatty acids from triglycerides, and this function is thought to be beneficial to keep skin moist and weakly acidic condition. Many research shows the importance of skin flora in immune-stimulation, pathogen defence and relationship with diseases. However functions and roles of most skin commensals in healthy skin are unclear.
Recent reports show that Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci (CoNS; including S. epidermidis) product anti-microbial peptides against S. aureus as "Skin Soothing Bacteria". We found that S. capitis and S. hominis, a major CoNS in human skin, had higher lipid decomposing activity than S. epidermidis in in-vitro. Then we proposed that not only S. epidermidis but also other CoNS can be defined as beneficial bacteria to be grown up in human skin. To promote growth of CoNS in human skin, we applied heat treated lactic acid bacteria, strain Lactobacillus casei K-1, as a skin care ingredient.
We found that L. casei K-1 promoted existence of S. epidermidis, S. capitis and S. hominis in each in vitro assay system. L. casei K-1 also promoted expression of DEFB3 in normal human epidermal keratinocyte. These data mean that L. casei K-1 effect as a skin flora modulator. Then we performed placebo controlled human in vivo study using facial gel containing 0.1% L. casei K-1 for 4 weeks. NGS analysis revealed that ratio of CoNS in total skin flora was increased in K-1 group more than placebo group. Interestingly, K-1 group also improved facial skin moisture content and weakly acidic condition. The above results clearly indicated that L. casei K-1 is effective for growth of skin CoNS and maintain healthy skin.
