R-spondin1
R-spondin 1 is a protein involved in the regeneration of organs and tissue is currently increasing attention in the field of regenerative medicine. In the field of hair science, R-spondin 1 activates the foundation of hair follicles, known as the outer root sheath, which is important in making thick hairs that do not come out easily. This led to the development of BURGEON-UP which is the hair growth material applied for the first time.
As BURGEON-UP also suppresses the mechanism of action of male hormones, it activates follicles while also preventing hair loss. In addition to male hair loss, BURGEON-UP is expected to work on female hair loss.

Mechanism of BURGEON-UP
Suppresses the action mechanism of male hormones (protecting the Anagen) and
activates hair follicles (stimulating the Anagen).
In hair tissues, the tissue regeneration-related protein R-spondin 1 binds with the receptors (LGR5) in the outer root sheath, which is the foundation of hair follicles ;activates cells; and stimulates hair growth.
Additionally, R-spondin 1 suppresses the production of the hair loss factor DKK 1, which works in the mechanism of action of male hormones.
BURGEON-UP is expected to have a“double punch” benefit by promoting the secretion of R-spondin 1 from dermal papilla cells to stimulate hair growth while also preventing hair loss caused by male hormones.

RSPO1 is used in the creation of organoids. It is also applied through eye drops in clinical trials for the reproduction of corneal endothelial cells.
The outer root sheath refers to the entire sheath around a hair follicle. The cells which make up the sheath are known as outer root sheath cells. The bulge is a section of the outer root sheath. Stem cells and their descendants, progenitor cells (cells endowed with stem cell qualities and ample multiplicative ability), exist within outer root sheath cells.
With hair loss from diffuse alopecia, rare in females, there is no ability to enter into a growth period and dormancy periods become longer. RSPO1 is an active factor in bringing hair from a period of dormancy to one of growth, and so an increase in it induces a growth period in hair follicles. Thus, it is believed RSPO1 can be used as a countermeasure against the symptoms of diffuse alopecia.
Furthermore, DKK1 and similar agents are effective in suppressing hair loss factors giving rise to male pattern baldness in females. BURGEON-UP is effective in both inducing the growth period and suppressing hair loss, which makes it conceivable that it would be effective in counteracting female hair loss and thinning.
Eyelashes have no hormones, so it cannot prevent hair loss there, but it shows promise in terms of hair growth.
